Café is GE Appliances' design-forward premium kitchen line — customizable hardware finishes across refrigeration, ranges, wall ovens, dishwashers and freestanding ice makers — built on the same GE Appliances engineering and support library as the rest of the family. A Café maintenance visit follows those same manuals model by model, with the ice maker's own filter and cleaning cycle usually the piece a Café kitchen adds that a plainer kitchen doesn't have. Café's maintenance-relevant lineup is French-door and four-door refrigeration, ranges and wall ovens with self-clean, a matching dishwasher, and freestanding nugget and clear-ice makers — the models GE documents under the Café badge. ### An ice maker with two separate reminders Café's countertop nugget ice makers track filter life and a periodic deep-clean separately, lighting a Replace Filter icon and a Time to Clean icon on their own schedules rather than combining them into one light. ### A cleaner ordered by name, not by aisle Café's ice maker manual names the specific cleaner it expects for the internal cycle and gives its own part number, and ties the display's escalation — a steady light, then a flashing one — to how overdue that clean is. ### Two separate cold-storage unit filter messages Café refrigerators show a Replace Water Filter message before the cartridge expires and a Water Filter Expired message once it does, and warn against confirming a filter change on the dispenser until the cartridge is actually swapped. ### A rinse-aid window that goes quiet, not flashing Café dishwashers show a plain Low Rinse indicator on the display when the rinse-agent reservoir runs low or empty, separate from any wash-cycle failure, and it's cleared by refilling the dispenser rather than resetting anything. Parts Café's water filter cartridges and ice maker cleaning solution are sold through the same GE parts channel as the rest of the family; the ice maker's specific cleaner is a named product rather than a generic descaler, so the model number matters when ordering. Repair or replace A Café refrigerator or ice maker kept current on its own filter and cleaning schedule is a strong repair candidate for most single-part failures; one that has skipped its cleaning cycles for a long stretch and is now losing ice output is closer to the point the sister repair site would flag for a compressor-side look. Time to Clean tracks the ice maker's own internal cleaning cycle — lit steady at five months, flashing at six — while Replace Filter tracks the separate water filter cartridge on its own schedule. They run independently of each other. ### My Café cold-storage unit shows Water Filter Expired — anything else to do after I swap the cartridge? Yes. Café's manual says not to confirm a filter change on the dispenser until the new filter is actually installed, so the physical swap and the reset need to happen in that order. ### Does a Café ice maker need a specific cleaning product? Café's manual names a specific cleaner for the internal cycle rather than leaving it to any descaling product, and its display escalates from a steady light to a flashing one the longer that clean is put off. ### How do I clear a Low Rinse indicator on a Café dish care? Refill the rinse-agent dispenser; the indicator is a level reading tied to the reservoir, not a failure that needs a reset. --- **[Read on the site: Café Appliance Maintenance | ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/brands/cafe/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/schedule/)**
