Press OK to start (~45min) shows on the home appliance ### Kind of code Scale and descaling Minerals from the water supply have built up where the appliance heats or freezes water: a steam oven's generator, a built-in coffee system, a dishwasher's heating path, an ice maker's mold and valve. The appliance asks for a descale because scale slows heating and blocks small passages. Run the descaling program with the descaler the maker names, check the water-hardness setting against your local water, and put the next descale on the calendar. ### Usually leads to Water filter and descaling service Fresh filters in dispensers and ice makers, and scale cleared from steam ovens, ice makers and dish care machines. ### Shows up as White Scale on Appliance Water Parts: Steam Ovens, Ice Makers, Dish Care White scale on appliance water parts is a chalky white or tan crust on a steam oven tray, an ice mold or plate, a dispenser outlet or the inside of a dishwasher, left by hard water. ### Make Bertazzoni Bertazzoni upkeep is mostly about the range: burner caps and ports, the oven gasket and the hood above, with the matching refrigerator and dishwasher checked in the same trip. ### Source Bertazzoni CM242WTXT built-in coffee maker installation, user and maintenance manual (US) Bertazzoni's Professional Series CM242WTXT 24-inch built-in coffee maker with its touch display. ## Before you book, in this order. Press OK to start (~45min). ### Can I clear Descaling needed. Press OK to start (~45min) myself? Press OK to start right away, or choose later if the timing is inconvenient; the cycle runs about 45 minutes. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How long does the Bertazzoni espresso unit's descale cycle take? About 45 minutes by the display's own estimate, including the two rinse passes. ### Can descaling be postponed on this Bertazzoni machine? Yes, the screen allows choosing later, though letting scale sit for weeks can slow the heater down over time. ### Does fitting the softener filter remove the need to descale? No, the cartridge only softens the water; the descale program still runs separately and the cartridge itself eventually needs replacing or removing. --- **[Read on the site: Bertazzoni built-in espresso unit: descaling needed](https://appliancemaintenance.center/error-codes/bertazzoni-coffee-descaling-needed/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/schedule/)**
