Check manual. actually means. Cove's own guide has this message appear when the unit must be descaled, and names a dishwasher cleaner or citric acid as the way to eliminate hard-water residue and limescale buildup, following the steps in the descale section. Cove home appliance display What to do when Descale Unit. Check manual. shows on the home appliance ### Kind of code Scale and descaling Minerals from the water supply have built up where the appliance heats or freezes water: a steam oven's generator, a built-in coffee system, a dishwasher's heating path, an ice maker's mold and valve. The appliance asks for a descale because scale slows heating and blocks small passages. Run the descaling program with the descaler the maker names, check the water-hardness setting against your local water, and put the next descale on the calendar. ### Usually leads to Water filter and descaling service Fresh filters in dispensers and ice makers, and scale cleared from steam ovens, ice makers and dish care machines. ### Shows up as White Scale on Appliance Water Parts: Steam Ovens, Ice Makers, Dish Care White scale on appliance water parts is a chalky white or tan crust on a steam oven tray, an ice mold or plate, a dispenser outlet or the inside of a dishwasher, left by hard water. ### Make Cove Cove makes only dishwashers, so a Cove visit is all dish care: filters and spray arms cleaned, the door gasket checked and the water supply and drain inspected. ### Source Cove dishwasher use and care guide Confirmed in Cove's dishwasher use and care guide. ## Before you book, in this order. Check manual.. ### Can I clear Descale Unit. Check manual. myself? Follow the descale steps in the appliance's own use and care guide. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How often should a Cove appliance be descaled? The guide ties the message to hard-water buildup rather than a fixed schedule, so households on hard water should expect to see it more often than those on softened water. ### Can plain white vinegar be used instead? Cove's own guide names a dishwasher cleaner or citric acid specifically; check the descale section of the guide before substituting a different household product. ### Is streaking on glassware related to this message? Cove's troubleshooting lists streaks or spots as a separate issue addressed by rinse aid dosing, so descaling and rinse-aid dosing are two different fixes for two different symptoms. --- **[Read on the site: Cove — descale unit | ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/error-codes/cove-descale-unit/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/schedule/)**
