Dacor's own current owner's manual for its built-in column freezers and refrigerators ties the Filter indicator directly to use: after roughly six months, or about 300 gallons dispensed through the original cartridge, the light blinks red until the filter is changed and the reset button is pressed. Dacor home appliance display · also shown as Filter indicator (blinking red) What to do when Filter Reset shows on the home appliance ### Kind of code Filters A filter has reached the end of its life or is clogged enough for the appliance to notice: a refrigerator water cartridge past its gallons or months, a hood's grease or charcoal filter loaded with residue, a dish-care filter packed with food, a washer inlet filter choked with grit. The fix is a clean or a new filter of the right part number, fitted with the appliance unplugged and the water closed where there is one, then the reminder reset. ### Usually leads to Water filter and descaling service Fresh filters in dispensers and ice makers, and scale cleared from steam ovens, ice makers and dish care machines. ### Shows up as Water or Ice Tasting Stale: Filter Age, Scale and Idle Lines Water or ice tasting stale is dispenser water, cubes or nugget ice with a flat, musty, chemical or freezer-food taste, often cloudy, slow to come or smaller than it used to be. ### Make Dacor Dacor kitchens tend to combine pro-style gas cooking, steam-assisted ovens and column refrigeration, so a visit looks after burners, scale and coils together. ### Source Dacor built-in column freezer/refrigerator User Care Manual Confirmed on Dacor's current built-in column freezer/refrigerator line (DRZ18980 / DRZ24980 / DRZ30980 / DRZ30990 / DRZ36980 series manual). ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Dacor's own guidance for Filter Reset on its home appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Order the matching replacement cartridge for the column model before starting. 02 Replace the water filter following the cartridge housing steps in the owner's manual. 03 Press and hold Filter Reset for the full three seconds the manual specifies to clear the light. 04 If the light stays lit after a confirmed new cartridge and a proper reset, book a visit to check the housing sensor. ### Still there? It usually turns into [water filter and descaling service](https://appliancemaintenance.center/services/water-filter-and-descaling-service/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A blinking red Filter light is a use-based schedule reminder, not a report that the icemaker or dispenser has stopped working. A unit that has actually stopped dispensing water with a fresh filter installed points to the water line or valve instead. ## What you may notice with it. Order the matching replacement cartridge for the column model before starting. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does a heavy ice-making household hit 300 gallons before six months? It can — Dacor's manual gives the gallon figure specifically because a busy household can use up a cartridge faster than the calendar interval alone would suggest. ### What happens if I replace the filter but skip the reset step? Dacor's manual describes pressing and holding Filter Reset for three seconds to clear the light and restart the lifecycle count; skipping it can leave the indicator showing even with a fresh cartridge fitted. ### Does hard water change how often I should replace the filter? Dacor's manual notes harder water conditions can shorten the filter's working life, meaning it may need replacing sooner than the standard interval. --- **[Read on the site: Dacor built-in column — the Filter indicator blinks red](https://appliancemaintenance.center/error-codes/dacor-filter-reset/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/schedule/)**
