How soon this reappears depends on the hardness value set from the test paper included with the machine; pressing OK begins the roughly 45-minute cycle at once, while BACK postpones it and leaves an icon lit as a standing reminder. Fisher & Paykel home appliance display · also shown as DESCALING NEEDED PRESS OK TO START (~45min) What to do when DESCALING NEEDED shows on the home appliance ### Kind of code Scale and descaling Minerals from the water supply have built up where the appliance heats or freezes water: a steam oven's generator, a built-in coffee system, a dishwasher's heating path, an ice maker's mold and valve. The appliance asks for a descale because scale slows heating and blocks small passages. Run the descaling program with the descaler the maker names, check the water-hardness setting against your local water, and put the next descale on the calendar. ### Usually leads to Water filter and descaling service Fresh filters in dispensers and ice makers, and scale cleared from steam ovens, ice makers and dish care machines. ### Shows up as White Scale on Appliance Water Parts: Steam Ovens, Ice Makers, Dish Care White scale on appliance water parts is a chalky white or tan crust on a steam oven tray, an ice mold or plate, a dispenser outlet or the inside of a dishwasher, left by hard water. ### Make Fisher & Paykel Fisher & Paykel homes often have a DishDrawer, whose two drawers each need their own filter rinsed, alongside column or French door cold storage and a laundry pair. ### Source Fisher & Paykel EB30MSB3 / EB30PSX1 built-in coffee maker user guide Fisher & Paykel Series 9 built-in coffee makers: 30-inch EB30MSB3, EB30PSX1 and the 24-inch EB24 models. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Fisher & Paykel's own guidance for DESCALING NEEDED on its home appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Press OK when about 45 minutes are available, or BACK to postpone. 02 Remove the tank and any fitted water filter, add the descaling solution as the screen directs, attach the water spout, and place a large enough container under the spouts. 03 Fill the tank to MAX for each rinse pass, emptying the drip tray first so it does not overflow. 04 Book a visit if the reminder returns immediately after a fully completed cycle. ### Still there? It usually turns into [water filter and descaling service](https://appliancemaintenance.center/services/water-filter-and-descaling-service/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do DESCALING NEEDED runs on a water-hardness timer, not a sign that the machine has failed, and it is a separate message from the water filter's own reminder. ## What you may notice with it. Press OK when about 45 minutes are available, or BACK to postpone. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How long should a Fisher & Paykel descale cycle take? About 45 minutes as estimated by the display, including both rinse steps. ### Can I control how often my Fisher & Paykel espresso unit asks to descale? Indirectly, by setting the water hardness accurately from the supplied test paper; harder settings bring the reminder sooner. ### Why did my Fisher & Paykel ask for a third rinse pass? One of the two rinses likely ran with the tank below the MAX line, which the machine detects and compensates for with an extra pass. --- **[Read on the site: Fisher & Paykel built-in espresso unit: DESCALING NEEDED](https://appliancemaintenance.center/error-codes/fisher-and-paykel-coffee-descaling-needed/)** **[Book a visit with ApplianceMaintenance.center](https://appliancemaintenance.center/schedule/)**
