Fisher & Paykel recommends replacing both filters, one per compartment at the bottom rear, about every six months; the icon lights on that interval and is cleared with a two-key combination. Fisher & Paykel home appliance display · also shown as carbon filter replacement What to do when Carbon filter icon shows on the home appliance ### Kind of code Filters A filter has reached the end of its life or is clogged enough for the appliance to notice: a refrigerator water cartridge past its gallons or months, a hood's grease or charcoal filter loaded with residue, a dish-care filter packed with food, a washer inlet filter choked with grit. The fix is a clean or a new filter of the right part number, fitted with the appliance unplugged and the water closed where there is one, then the reminder reset. ### Usually leads to Water filter and descaling service Fresh filters in dispensers and ice makers, and scale cleared from steam ovens, ice makers and dish care machines. ### Shows up as Water or Ice Tasting Stale: Filter Age, Scale and Idle Lines Water or ice tasting stale is dispenser water, cubes or nugget ice with a flat, musty, chemical or freezer-food taste, often cloudy, slow to come or smaller than it used to be. ### Make Fisher & Paykel Fisher & Paykel homes often have a DishDrawer, whose two drawers each need their own filter rinsed, alongside column or French door cold storage and a laundry pair. ### Source Fisher & Paykel column wine cabinet user guide Fisher & Paykel Series 11 Integrated Column Wine Cabinet (RS2484VR2K1); the Series 9 under-counter unit also carries air filters. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Fisher & Paykel's own guidance for Carbon filter icon on its home appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Replace both carbon filters at the bottom rear of each compartment. 02 Hold the two keys named in the user guide together for four seconds to reset the icon. 03 If odors remain after fresh filters are installed, check the interior for a spill or dampness. ### Still there? It usually turns into [water filter and descaling service](https://appliancemaintenance.center/services/water-filter-and-descaling-service/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do This icon is about odor control, not cooling performance, and the compartments keep cooling normally through it. A musty smell that persists with new filters points to a spill or moisture rather than the filters themselves. ## What you may notice with it.
