Appliance maintenance in Solana Beach.
Solana Beach traces to 1922, when Colonel Ed Fletcher bought 140 acres from a local farmer to develop the town, later using hydraulic water pressure to carve out Fletcher Cove beach in time for its 1925 opening.

What Solana Beach does
to a home appliance.
The city grew in two main waves, first in the decade after World War II and again during a real estate boom in the last quarter of the 20th century, before incorporating on its own in 1986.
Much of the city sits atop sandstone bluffs that the county allowed to be built up densely before incorporation, and those same bluffs have since collapsed onto the beach in places, damaging structures above.
A geological study of the bluffs between 1947 and 1977 found little erosion in those particular decades, a reminder that the bluffs' stability has varied significantly depending on the storm pattern of a given period.
All of San DiegoOn the water
Coastal storms drive rain sideways into outside flaps and wall caps, so after a storm a maintenance visit checks the dryer and hood outlets for water, debris and a damper that no longer closes.
Seasonal houses
When the owners return, an opening visit runs each appliance before it is trusted again: water lines flushed, the first ice batch thrown out, the dryer exhaust checked for nests and the drum and door seals wiped of any mildew.
Apartments and small homes
In a small kitchen the refrigerator often stands with its back to a wall and its sides boxed in by cabinets, and a maintenance visit there measures the air gap the maker calls for and clears whatever has crept into it before cleaning the coil.

When a home appliance
cannot wait in Solana Beach.
In Solana Beach as anywhere, these five signs mean upkeep has waited too long and a hazard has started in the home, so the appliance stays off until it is looked at: a hot or burning-lint smell from the laundry, a gas smell at a cooking appliance, a supply hose leaking or bulging, a burning electrical smell, and a breaker that trips when the appliance runs.
