What Lake County does
to a home appliance.
Where home appliances sit in Lake County: older housing stock, on a lake, mixed housing.
All of ChicagoOlder housing stock
Older houses were not built around modern appliances, and a dryer or a hood there may exhaust through an opening cut decades ago in a thick wall, so upkeep traces that path to the outside and cleans it from end to end.
On a lake
A lake house closed for part of the year comes back to an ice maker holding stale water, a washer with a musty seal and a dryer outlet holding a nest, so an opening visit flushes, cleans and clears each one before the season.
Mixed housing
Where some houses have been rebuilt and others kept, a service log helps a new owner learn how the appliances were cared for, and a maintenance visit starts one when the house has none.

Lake Bluff
Lake Bluff began in 1875 as a Methodist summer resort on bluffs above Lake Michigan, with early cottages built on 25-foot lots, before incorporating as a village in 1895 and shifting to permanent housing in the 1920s.
Libertyville
Libertyville incorporated in 1882 after the Milwaukee Road rail line arrived, and a downtown fire in 1895 led the village board to require brick construction for rebuilding, unifying the look of its center to this day.
Long Grove
Long Grove incorporated only in 1956 and has since kept strict building ordinances that bar sidewalks, fences and residential street lights to preserve its country atmosphere around the 1906 Robert Parker Coffin Bridge.
Vernon Hills
Vernon Hills incorporated in 1958 with just 125 houses in a single subdivision, then expanded through later annexations that brought developments like Centennial Crossing in 1986.
