Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 879-5178

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Miele's own guidance for F170 on its home appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Open the rinse aid dispenser and refill it to the fill line.

02

Press the OK button on the display to confirm and clear the message.

03

If F170 returns quickly after a full dispenser, book a visit so the dispenser's dosing mechanism can be checked.

Cleared?

The reminder is gone from the display, the filter, the screen or the tub has been cleaned or swapped, and the appliance runs a full cycle without calling for it again. A clean-filter light or a descale prompt that returns in days rather than months usually means the part it watches is fouling faster than normal, so mention that when you book.

What not to do

F170 does not mean the dispenser itself has failed on first appearance; Miele's fix is simply to add rinse aid. It only becomes a repair question if the message keeps returning with a dispenser that is clearly full.

No service indicated

Nothing to service.

Nothing has broken; the appliance has been counting hours, cycles or gallons and is asking for its routine care. A refrigerator lights a filter icon after about six months of water, a front-load washer suggests a tub-clean cycle after a set number of loads, a steam oven or a dishwasher asks for descaling or rinse aid, and some dryers remind you to check the exhaust. Do the task the reminder names, reset it the way the manual describes, and write the date in the service record.

In Miele's own words

Questions
about F170.

Can I clear F170 myself?
Open the rinse aid dispenser and refill it to the fill line. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Miele keep asking for rinse aid so often?
A dispenser set on a low dosage or a household running larger, hotter cycles can burn through rinse aid faster than expected; increasing the dosage setting slightly can space out how often F170 appears.
Is F170 the same as a low-salt message?
No. Miele's dish care line documents salt and rinse aid as two separate reminders since they clear two different problems: spotting from rinse aid, and scale build-up from salt.
Can I use a combined detergent instead of separate rinse aid?
Miele's own guidance is written around the dispenser being filled directly with rinse aid, so check the appliance's own instructions before relying on a combined product to avoid triggering repeat messages.

Still showing F170?

A booking goes further when it has the reminder or code as shown, the model number from the rating plate, and a word on when that filter, screen or tub was last cleaned. With those three, the office can pack the right filter or cleaner for your appliance.
