Bosch E17 — inlet filter blocked

Bosch's own laundry error-code page names the filters in the water connection or the AquaStop hose as blocked, or water pressure as too low, as the cause of E17, F17 or F29, with cleaning the filters as the fix.

What to do when E17 shows on the home appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Bosch's own guidance for E17 on its home appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting the inlet hose to check its filter.

02

Clean the filter in the water connection under running water, since the AquaStop hose contains an electric valve that should not be immersed.

03

If E17 returns with a clean filter and normal water pressure, book a visit so the inlet valve can be checked.

Still there?

It usually turns into water filter and descaling service. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E17 is not a failed water valve on its own; Bosch's own cause list starts with a blocked filter or low pressure, both owner-checked first. A unit that still will not fill with a clean filter and confirmed normal pressure is a separate problem.

Where E17 usually leads

Water filter and descaling service.

Water filters replaced and flushed, inlet screens checked, descaling run on a steam oven, ice maker or dish care machine · low.

In Bosch's own words

E17, F17 or F29 The filters in the water connection or AquaStop hose are blocked or the water pressure is too low. Clean the filters in the water supply hose.

Questions
about E17.

Can I clear E17 myself?
Turn off the water supply before disconnecting the inlet hose to check its filter. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is it safe to open the AquaStop hose to clean its filter?
Bosch's own page warns that the AquaStop safety device contains an electric valve and specifically says not to immerse it in water, so clean around it carefully rather than submerging the whole assembly.
Could low household water pressure cause E17 with a clean filter?
Yes. Bosch's page lists low water pressure as an alternative cause alongside a blocked filter, so checking the household supply is worth doing if the filter itself is already clean.
How often should the inlet filter be checked?
Bosch does not give a fixed schedule, but a home with older plumbing or sediment in its water supply benefits from checking it more often than one with a modern, filtered supply.

Still showing E17?

A booking goes further when it has the reminder or code as shown, the model number from the rating plate, and a word on when that filter, screen or tub was last cleaned. With those three, the office can pack the right filter or cleaner for your appliance.
